Air Fryer Fried Chicken

By now, so many people have and love their Air Fryers.  And in less than 20 minutes they turn out the best  tasting and healthy fried chicken you have ever had. Heck with KFC, this is so much better tasting, healthier and FAR cheaper. Boneless chicken costs between $2.50 and $10 per pound, depending upon the cut, brand, store and whether it is organic or not.  The cost of the seasonings which are the only other ingredient are trivial.

Total time: about 30 minutes

Cooks for 20 minutes
Yield: as much or as little as you need; it's an air fryer!

Easy to make!

Ingredients

  • Chicken. Preferably boneless chicken breasts, thighs or tenderloins
  • Seasonings, (1/4 teaspoon of each below, per lb of meat)
    • Garlic powder
    • Paprika
    • Oregano (dried)
    • Black pepper
    • Fajita seasoning (optional;)
  • Dried Panko bread crumbs or Shake N Bake - about 1 Tablespoon per pound of meat
  • No, you do not need salt! You can add it if you want, but unless you are a salt junkie, you won't taste it anyway.

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Olive oil
  • Plastic bag and or mixing bowl
  • Tongs

 

Directions

Step 1 - Get the air fryer ready

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. If it just takes a minute to heat up, you can wait until step

Step 2 - Make the season mix

Put all of the dry seasonings into a plastic bag (I use a 1 gallon ziplock bag. )

Step 3 - Coat the Chicken Breasts with oil

Coat the chicken breasts with olive oil. It takes about 1/2 teaspoon per breast.

Step 4 - Shake in the seasoning bag

Put the chicken breasts (1 at a time)  into the seasoning bag and shake to coat the breast.

Step 5 - Cook in the air fryer,

Cook in the preheated air fryer, for a total of 20 minutes, flipping the breasts over at the halfway point (10 minutes).

Step 6 - rest for 5 to 10 minutes

Cooked meats need to "rest" for 5 to 10 minutes to allow the juices and flavors to settle!
